Inside Business First: 'Ask a Barrister'

16 Jul 2017 –– Testimonials

This week, Inside Business First took some time out, to speak to Business First’s Liverpool Business Centre tenants, Ask a Barrister – part of a barrister’s chambers called Charterhouse Chambers, to find out all about who they are, what they do and why they chose to operate from Business First, Liverpool.

We sat down with Director of Ask a Barrister, Nick Roberts, to find out more.

What does ‘Ask a Barrister’ do?

“At Ask a Barrister we provide legal advice to individuals and businesses without the need for a solicitor. We can help with legal queries and concerns in myriad areas, including: family law; employment law; criminal law, and; civil law.

“In general terms, solicitors instruct expert barristers on behalf of clients to help with specific areas of the law. By using Ask a Barrister the legal process is made quicker and more cost-effective, as there is no need for two lawyers, plus, the cost is agreed with you, up-front, before any work is done. This means that you always know exactly how much the process will cost.”

How did you hear about Business First offices in Liverpool?

“I was searching the internet for office space in Liverpool, and I came across Business First’s listing. The centre looked good. The facilities sounded good. The prices sounded good. So, I came and had a viewing…”

Why did you decide to operate your business from Business First’s offices in Liverpool?

“To put it simply, I wanted a cost-effective, yet smart, modern and professional base for the first 12 months of the business. Business First’s Liverpool offices offered me everything I needed and more.”

How long have you been at Business First, Liverpool and how big is your office?

“I moved in at the end of July, 2016, and the office is 250 sq ft – or to put it another way, more than big enough for what I need from it, for the time being.”

What benefits do you get from operating from Business First?

“Ease of access to the motorway is a big bonus, not just for myself, but for my clients, too. Nearly all of my clients mention how convenient it is for them not to have to navigate round the over-crowded roads of Liverpool city centre to get the service.

“Also, the amount of parking, which is free for both myself and all of my visitors is a big benefit.”

Do you use the free facilities at Business First?

“Yes. I have used the conference rooms on the ground floor several times. They are really well equipped and present a business-like, professional image which is not always present in the law.”

How has Business First helped you to run your business successfully?

“Quite simply, Business First provides all the support I require, and any issues I have are dealt with quickly. It’s very reasonably priced, as well.”

What would you say is the best thing that Business First has done for your business?

“I genuinely think it’s a combination of all of the things I’ve mentioned already! It works for me, and seeing how busy the business centre and offices are, I presume that others feel the same, too!”

And finally, would you recommend Business First’s offices in Liverpool to other SMEs?

“Without question. In fact, I have; one of our barristers is looking at taking an office here. The cost-to-benefit analysis makes it a no brainer!”
