Meet the Team: Michael Woodvine, Regional Manager

21 Jul 2017 –– Staff

This week, in our Meet the Team series, we sat down to speak to Business First's Regional Manager, Michael Woodvine, to find out a little bit more about who he is and what he does at Business First and beyond.

As always, we asked some serious questions, and some pretty daft ones, too...

What's your full name and job title?

"Michael Woodvine, I'm Regional Manager of Business First."

Before working here, what's the most unusual or interesting job you've had?

"I used to work at McDonald's, believe it or not, I learned a lot there... as well as putting on a bit of extra timber!"

If you could swap jobs with one person in the company, who would it be and why?

"It would definitely be Sarah, the Director. I want to learn and become better at what I do, and where better to do that, than with Sarah."

What three words do you think best describe Business First?

"Modern, creative and putting-your-business-first: one of the things I learned from Sarah is the inability to summarise something into three words. Haha."

What three words do you think best describe you?

"Always-going-at-100mph. Funny. Loving."

What's the weirdest/most challenging thing you've ever had to do whilst working here?

"Without a shadow of a doubt, it's the times I've had to 'go live' on Facebook, with Caroline, to announce competition winners and things like that. We both found that really awkward. We won't give up our day jobs in favour of chasing careers in TV, I'll tell you that much!"

What's your favourite film?

"It has to be Wolf of Wall Street. What a great film."

What's your proudest moment at Business First?

"It has to be the day I became Regional Manager. I had been the manager of a few of the centres prior to being promoted, and when I found out I had got the promotion, I was over the moon!"

What has been your most embarrassing moment at work?

"This is easy. I ripped my pants once, when I was helping a tenant to lift a really heavy parcel that had been delivered. Looking back, it was pretty funny, but at the time..."

What's your favourite place to travel to?

"This isn't really answering the question, but even so, I would love to visit New York! It's my favourite place that I want to travel to, but haven't yet, so close enough."

How do you define success?

"Achieving my lifetime goals."

If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?

"Leonardo DiCaprio. Because he's a legend."

If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

"Disaronno and coke, it tastes good and is really easy to drink."

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

"I do love a Big Mac Meal. However, I'd probably have to say chicken fried rice, chips and curry."

If you could be any animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?

"I'd be a monkey, they go places that no human has ever been!"

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take three things with you, what would you take?

"Clean water, a gun, and a lighter. All you need to survive."

Tell us a little about you and your family.

"I have an amazing fiancée, who I've been with since I was 15 - it's 10 years now, on the 3rd of June it was our anniversary - she's an absolute diamond! I also have the most beautiful child, called Taylor, who is three years old. Taylor is so clever, it's unreal. Those two mean the absolute world to me."

Who is your idol?

"Probably someone like Richard Branson. He's made a real success of himself, from nothing."

What is your guilty pleasure?

"Eating junk food."

What's the oldest thing in your fridge?

"There's bound to be some sauce, or a mayonnaise, or something that we've forgotten about kicking around at the back of the fridge. There is in everyone's isn't there?"

Do you play any instruments or have any talents or hobbies?

"I used to play football a lot, but I've stopped recently, so would probably have to say going to the gym."

Do you have any weird phobias?

"I don't know if this is weird, but I HATE spiders and snakes. Really flipping hate them!"

If you could choose one superpower, and only one, what would it be?

"It would have to be flying! You could fly anywhere in the world, and the views you'd get...amazing!"
